OK – they are not as glamorous as the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles.\u00a0\u00a0 But #13 La Salle has made their way to the Sweet 16 by their 2 point victory over Ole Miss.\u00a0 With time winding down, Tyrone Garland makes a tremendous drive to the basket and hit the layup to give the Explorers the win.<\/p>\n
Although I will say that it was rather strange that Ole Miss didn’t call a time-out.\u00a0 They had one remaining – why not set up a last play for the 2.5 seconds.\u00a0 It probably wouldn’t have mattered since they had to travel the entire court, but the Rebels looked confused on what to do – and they ended up with a horrible last ditch effort to win the game.<\/p>\n
Still, if it wasn’t for the amazing story about the Eagles – the #13 seed Explorers would be the Cinderella story.\u00a0 By the way, it is an interesting side note that the Explorers have now made it 2 of 3 years that a team from the first four games made it to the Sweet 16.\u00a0 All of us remember the other team that did that continued all the way to the Final Four – Richmond’s own VCU Rams.<\/p>\n
