Brackets are being torn up all over the place.\u00a0\u00a0 Michigan State, a team picked by many to win the entire tournament, will not make it out of the first round thanks to an incredible effort by Middle Tennessee State.<\/p>\n
Normally, it would have been the upset by #13 Hawaii that would have gotten all the news – as they took out California earlier today.\u00a0\u00a0 But I think it is only the 8th time that a 15 seed has beaten a #2 seed.\u00a0\u00a0 Regardless, there will be plenty of Cinderellas to root for over the weekend.\u00a0 So far, here are the underdogs (9 seed or higher) that have won – #9 Connecticut, #9 Providence, #9 Butler, #10 Syracuse, #10 VCU, #11 Wichita St, #11 Gonzaga, #12 Little Rock, #12 Yale, #13 Hawaii, and #15 Middle Tennessee St.\u00a0\u00a0 That’s right, so far 11 of the 23 games that have been played so far have been won by the underdog!!!!\u00a0\u00a0 And at least 6 of those are from the mid-majors (guess it depends on if you would classify the Atlantic 10 or American as a mid-major – which would jump the number to 8).<\/p>\n
And because the score doesn’t reflect it, #15 Cal St Bakersfield was only 4 points down with about 3 1\/2 minutes to play before Oklahoma finished off the game….<\/p>\n
