There was no quit in the VCU Rams. Both teams struggled to score in the overtime period as we entered the last minute with a tie at 77. Seth Trimble drove to the hoop and got fouled. He missed the first free throw but hit the second to give UNC a one point lead.

Of course, VCU would get the ball to their leader, Terrence Hill Jr. With about 15 seconds left, Hill faked a drive to the basket, stepped back and drilled a three-pointer from the top of the lead to take the lead!

Henri Veesar would get the ball in the lane to try to tie the game but he got fouled. And unfortunately, Veesar missed the first free throw. He tried to intentionally miss the second one but his shot missed the rim for a turnover.

VCU barely got the ball in with 3 seconds to Nyk Lewis and the freshman calmly hit both free throws to send the Rams to the Round of 32.

So far it has been a good performance by the mid-majors. Congratulations to the local team – the VCU Rams!!
