Taylor Just Knows Me

Those who follow the blog know that I love music. And as you remember from last year, I revealed that I really enjoy Taylor Swift music. As I was listening to her album Red in the car, the song I Almost Do came on – and as I sang along, I realized that while her song was totally about an ex-boyfriend and not getting back together, the words felt so close to the way I feel at the moment. I realized with just some minor changes, it would be perfect. And so, with all apologies to Taylor Swift for butchering her beautiful song, here is the Lunatic’s version of “I Always Do.”

Just imagine a mid-aged man going through significant crisis singing (most likely poorly) to the music of Taylor Swift’s song, I Almost Do.

I know this time of night, I’m still up
I know I’m tired from a long, hard week
I know I’m sitting in my chair by the window
Screaming out at the TV, and I bet
Its probably cause you just got beat
And I just wanna tell you
It takes everything in me still to pick you
And I wish you would never lose
And I hope you know that
Every time you do, I always do
I always do
I bet you think I either moved on or hate you
‘Cause each time you get upset, it makes me cry.
I bet it never, ever occurred to you
That I can’t say I’ll pick you and risk another goodbye
And I just wanna tell you
It takes everything in me still to pick you
And I wish you would never lose
And I hope you know that
Every time you do, I always do
I always do
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Oh, we made quite a mess, babe
It’s probably better off this way
And I confess, baby
In my dreams, you’re winning the Big 10
And asking me if I wanna try again with you
And I always do
And I just wanna tell you
It takes everything in me still to pick you
And I wish you would never lose
And I hope you know that
Every time you do, I always do
I always do
Ooh, ooh, ooh
I know this time of night, I’m still up
I know I’m tired from a long hard week
I know I’m sittin’ in my chair by the window
Screaming out at the TV, and I hope
Next year, you won’t get easily beat.
