Tonight was supposed to be a great day for the Mountain West Conference. They had two teams in the Sweet 16. One of them was in essence playing at home inSan Diego. The other had the unstoppable force of Jimmer Fredette. However, the Mountain West ended up having the first two teams to lose in the Sweet 16 – in very close matchups.
Walkercontinues to just be dominating – putting up 36 points. WheneverSan Diego Stwould put a run on to get back in the game,Walkerand the Huskies would go on another run and push the lead back to a comfortable margin. And so, the Big East Conference Tournament Champions continue their amazing run in the post-season to be the first team to make the Elite 8.
Meanwhile, Jimmer’s 32 points were not enough to carry his team to victory.Florida’s starters had a balanced attack as four of their five starters scored in double digits. And unlike last year, this time the SEC Regular Season Champions found a way to overcome a big game from Fredette – allowing them to advance to the Elite 8.
Who will joinConnecticutandFlorida- unless you are a fan of one of the schools, the rest of us can only hope that the late games end up being as close and exciting as the first two games of the Sweet 16!
